“The needs of mankind are universal. Our means of meeting them create the richness and diversity of the planet. The Montessori child should come to relish the texture of that diversity.

- Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori believed that promoting diversity and understanding, and implementing the valuing of different cultures, led children to accept and respect people and their traditions from all over the world. The Montessori cultural materials that we provide include books, stories, visual prompts, displays of symbols that represent different countries, practical activities (like handling and trying on traditional clothing from around the world), and collections of pictures and artifacts from around the world. Working with these materials aids children to develop an interest in all cultures including their own. The multicultural heritage of the children in our class is something we value highly.
